Mechanical seal cooling systems

Flopac promises maximum performance and long service live for your seals. In support of that promise a proper seal cooler design is of paramount importance: to ensure the provision of a sufficient liquid flush to cool and lubricate the mechanical seals.

Our many years of experience and in-depth expertise have made us specialists in this field and surely, all Flopac seal cooler designs are optimized to meet the needs of your mechanical seals best.

Also, regularly used in API 682 seal support systems all Flopac seal flush coolers meet the critical construction and design requirements of this standard as well. Specifically, our API seal coolers are arranged for complete draining and venting and support thermosiphon circulation 

to ensure continued cooling of the mechanical seal even when the circulating device fails or the pump is at a standstill.

Our API 682 seal flush coolers may be acquired as part of a complete and properly engineered Flopac seal support system, or you may decide to purchase our coolers as a component part to build your own system.

Mechanical seal cooling systems

For air-cooled seal flushing, Flopac offers two solutions matched to your heat load. Natural air draft coolers run on natural convection — no moving parts, no power — for reliable, economical cooling. Forced air draft coolers add a fan for higher heat loads where cooling water isn’t available. Both use full-contact laser-welded 316Ti fins for maximum heat transfer and durability.

Self-contained cooling by natural convection, no power or cooling water needed, capacities up to 2.350 Watt, 104 barg @ 200°C, ATEX certified

Fan-assisted cooling for higher heat loads where cooling water is not available, capacities up to 9 kW,  69 barg @ 120°C, ATEX certified

When cooling water is available, water coolers offer the highest efficiency in the most compact footprint — ideal for higher heat loads or applications requiring winterizing, coating or insulation. Flopac supplies standard tube-in-tube and engineered shell & tube designs up to 18 kW, all API 682 compliant with full venting, draining and optional retractable bundles.
